Did you know? Next week is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week?! NTDAW is from September 16-22, 2012, and we will honor all professional truck drivers for their hard work and commitment in tackling one of our economy’s most demanding and essential jobs!

Here’s some facts as to why professional truck drivers are so appreciated:

  • There are 3.5 million truck drivers in the US alone! 1 in every 15 working Americans is employed by the trucking industry.
  • Collectively, truck drivers log over 400 billion miles per year.
  • In 2011, the trucking industry hauled 9.2 billion tons of freight, which is 67% of the nation’s total.
  • 80% of US communities depend solely on trucking for delivery of goods & commodities.

Those are just a few facts that show what makes professional truck drivers so valued! To mark this, the American Trucking Association has asked the Google Doodle team to doodle the NTDAW on the Google Page. Still unconfirmed if they will or not, so keep checking the Google home page next week!!
